Pregnancy - Deficiencies of vitamines&minerals- Effects

Becoming a pregnant is a wonderful feeling to every woman.
Woman become a creator ..as  she gives new living species
But pregnancy causes many risks due to various minerals vitamines deficiency

As a child
Adolescent age
Adult
All phases all most 50-60 % percent ladies developing anemia
Pregnant mothers are suffering more than 70-80 % with anemia .either iron defiency or folic acid deficiency or B12 vitamine ( cyanocobalamine ) deficiency.

Growing fetus demands more minerals, more micro nutrients ,energy .Vit A ,Vit B complex , Vit C, Vit B12 ,Zinc , Folate, Iodine, Iron, Calcium, Niacin , riboflabin , Thamine etc

Deficiency of above all causes fetal maternal morbidity mortality.
Low birth weight babies ,Intra uterine growth restricted babies , Pre tem babies , Intra uterine death babies ,Fresh still birth babies are the real dangers of all above deficiency effects

Recent studies are showing some interesting facts
Prevalence of maternal obesity is increasing day by day.
and anomalies of fetus in utero is also increased,
maternal weight alone was not associated with an increase in congenital anomalies.
Diabetes was significantly associated with the increase in the rate of anomalies seen in our population. Identification of maternal weight as a risk factor in epidemiologic studies may be a surrogate for pregestational diabetes.

Vegetarian diet gives advantage in Pregnancy..Yes ?or No?

In oldendays most of the people advice vegetarian diet for pregnant ladies
But Recent studies are mentioning pregnants should take more essential fatty acids ,essential amino acids.As vegerians get less essential aminoacids and fatty acids compared to mixed diet eaters.B12 vitamine also exclusively available in animal products.It couldnot get through pure vegetarian diet.Defiency of B12 leads to megaloblastic anemia.
Conclusion:
Mixed diet is always best during pregnancy to get all types of nutritive things.

Diet in Pregnancy

Pregnancy need extra energy minerals elements vitamines for mother and growing fetus.
Average 10 lunar months is the duration of pregnancy
10 kg weight gain is essential during pregnancy
300 kcal extra energy should be supplemented extra to pregnant women
450kcal extra to be given in first half lactation
1000mg iron has to be given through out pregnancy
1000mg calcium is needed daily from 16 week onwards antenally.Atleast 500mg after delivery for lactatating mother
500ml milk to be given to women in antenatal period
Avoid toomuch easy digestable carbohydrates like sugar.
Better to limit 30gm fat per day.
Adequate liquids ,atleast 3litres per day.pure water or juice or coconut water can be taken
Fibre diet, green vegetables ,fruits can be eaten when ever they want.No restriction for these.Exception chikkoo /sapota, mango for known or prone diabetic pregnants.
salt restriction not needed mild hypertensives.but pre eclampsia eclampsia patients need special diety habbits.
